Chrissy’s Island Family features the voice of Christine Anu and has been co-created and illustrated by Antonietta Fiorenza.
Chrissy’s Island Family tells the adventures of Chrissy and her Tropical Island Blue Friends; ‘Samu’ the Wakka Woo Cassowary, ‘Waru’ the magical, mythical 400-year-old Turtle and ‘Sisi’ the Giddy Gecko. It shares songs and stories containing valuable educational facts and life lessons. The core target is 4-7 year-olds.
The album was released in July 2007 via ABC Music. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2007, the album was nominated for ‘Best Children’s Album’, losing out to The Wiggles’ Pop Go the Wiggles!
To coincide with the album’s release, a live stage show featuring Anu as a live-action costume character toured Australia. In May 2012, the show toured New Zealand and schools in New South Wales in August.
The show was described as uniquely Australian.
